The pitch
As a group, we have decided to pitch the film screening concept; this will consist of monthly screenings of student films every first Friday of the month at Hyde Park Picture House. The aim of the event is to explore the young independent film scene within Leeds and the UK, supporting creatives and providing a space to celebrate film with students alike. Due to this, it would be fitting to host the screenings at HPPH, as it is a predominantly student area that often shows indie films; we felt like it would also be a great way to support the cinema through the sales of tickets especially post COVID, as it is a business that has been hard hit from the pandemic. As well as this, we thought that these monthly events would be a nice way to bring a new audience to the cinema, and develop a nice sense of community.
After delegating the tasks (listed above), my role now is to create a logo for the pitch/ event. On the google meet call, I suggested the name 'close up' and everyone agreed on that as it reflects the idea of exposure and magnifying the film scene in Leeds. We've also decided to keep the visual identity quite simple, as we want the focus to be predominantly on the film side of the event.
