Comic book characteristics
I decided to research into the properties and traditional aspects of comic books that I could feature in my own outcome, as I want to feature certain aspects in order to convey a sense of familiarity with the consumer. To some degree, it would be interesting to remove some elements to make the zine more interactive; for example, I could remove speech bubbles for the reader to add their own captions, or make stickers that they could add in.
Additionally, due to the comic book removing Garfield from the comics, it could be interesting to provide Garfield stickers that the user could add back in to the comic strips; this would provide an exclusivity that links to my essay, as it would add another layer to the webcomic that would make the zine appealing to audiences.
Furthermore, I think I want to play with this exclusivity with making the zine in black and white, as it could give an opportunity for readers to colour the comic zine in? This could work, but I'm not sure if it is too childish for the demographic of young adults.
I think I need to experiment with what elements I could remove that would work best - so far I think the sticker concept is probably the most relevant idea, as it gives the audience more freedom to make the user experience personal and playful.
