Further development of bubble texture

Quote references - bubbles

Instead of focusing on a specific quote for the book cover design, I decided to take a more abstract direction through picking out a reoccurring word - in this case, I found that bubbles were mentioned a lot in the book, and thought that they could be interesting to play with visually.

Digital development

I took a photo of some bubbles in a sink and manipulated it digitally; concentrating on developing different textures and colours to provide a nice playful image. I like the colours in this design as they abstract the primary photo and create an allusive design. I also thought that the gaps in the colour could work well for the positioning of the text.

I don't really like the text added onto this version of the cover, as it looks quite flat and the text isn't very playful; the type is lost in the image and doesn't provide a striking or interesting visual. Also, I need to consider legibility as I am still designing for an intended audience that need a clear or visually interesting title.

These designs are a lot more improved with how the text is positioned; I tried to overlap the text and images in a more interesting way in order to hide parts of the text, which made the text seem more playful and immersed within the textures of the design. I feel like this is a more relevant way to compose the text as it communicates the aspect of 'nearly' by sections being hidden by the image. However, I feel like this design can definitely be refined, and I need to consider the positioning more and the challenge of applying this effect to the blurb as it has a lot more text.
