Further experimentation with textures/ fruit sticker concept

Playing with texture

I decided to develop more texturised images in order to create more depth to my designs; I wanted to play with the texture of a banana to link to the fruit sticker designs I previously made. Hopefully this would develop a stronger connection and relevance to the banana concept I want to communicate.

I edited the images with higher saturation and contrast to create a more vibrant image; this allowed the design to look more playful which would link to the childish/ fun nature of Bill Brysons' writing. I think I prefer the first design to the blue toned one, as it looks more fitting for a banana concept.

Adding sticker designs

I developed some more fruit sticker designs for the cover, focusing on different sections of the books title. In order to create a playful atmosphere, I solely used a primary colour scheme, which complimented the background imagery. The only issue I have with this cover concept is how there arguably is little juxtaposition between the colours, and that the stickers themselves are spread apart.

I decided to improve the composition by layering up the sticker designs to create an authentic aesthetic; this also helped build a nicer composition, as the words were tightly connected. I think to develop this idea further, I need to make it by hand and print the stickers out/ layer them up and then scan them in; this would help me create a more textured design, as arguably looks a bit flat.
