Experimenting with colour/ stock

Playing around with coloured paper stock (digitally)

In order to explore avenues of paper stock for the final outcome, I wanted to take a colour swatch from G.F. Smiths' 'extract' collection. I feel like using these as paper stocks would be interesting as they could inject a bit of colour into the design but in a sustainable way.

Cactus

I feel like the 'cactus' green colour would be fitting for the publication as it definitely relates to environmental activism. The only issue is that it might be difficult to combine this colour with my bumper stickers - there might be a bit of a clash?

Ember

'Ember' definitely has less of a contrast, but works in a way that conveys quite an angry sense of voice; this works in relating to the emotive nature of protesting within activism.

Mustard

I really like how 'mustard' aligns with the intentions of the book in raising awareness of climate change; the yellow and black is very reminiscent of warning signs and anger (e.g like a wasp). The only issue is creating a colour palette for the bumper stickers that would compliment the tone.

Moon

'Moon' is the least vibrant and colourful paper stock, but has the best contrast with the black ink and is visually the nicest outcome. However, I don't know if it is a risk in loosing the vibrancy and fun from my book that I want to convey - are the images enough in conveying this? Despite this, it would be the most compatible colour to work with my bumper stickers. I think I will get some peer/ crit feedback on which colour paper stock to use.
