Terminology
- Multicolumn grid - how text is spread out; columns could be spread out
- Designing with a ‘hang line’ Text hangs down from the hang line
- Stacking- lines going across and goes up; sense of order
- You want a visible relationship with type and images
- Modular grids - same thing repeated
For my logotype/poster design, I wanted to communicate my theme through duplicating words and letters, however I needed to do so by manipulating these factors. For example, my poster followed the same rule as my logotype, by falling from a horizontal word and being reflected. The relationship I established with my images and text was the rule of containing images in the centre, as I developed this into my poster concept by changing the alignment of the picture. Furthermore, it was crucial that both the specimen and the poster design were legible either side up, as I wanted to strengthen the idea of a double image in order to place emphasis and link to my theme. I think that by following these rules I have established a nice consistent design, as all of my posters (including the specimen) contain the same structure and approach.
