Duplication in design

Notter + Vigne

Founded by Julien Notter and Sebastian Vigne, Notter + Vigne is a graphic design studio that specialise in promotional work and publications.

This poster concept involves the duplication of words to fill a space, akin to my approach in developing a structure. Contrastingly from my design, however, this design involves a lot more negative space within the centre of the design, which draws the eye to the text 'silence'. I think that this works very effectively in guiding audiences to a resting point of vision, which I think my design lacks slightly; is there an element of it being too chaotic?

This concept also involves the duplication of text, but does so in a way that has a level of hierarchy in its rules and structures. Additionally, It has a lot of negative space, which places an emphasis on the key word and the design itself.

I really think that this poster communicates the same idea of reflection that I have tried to portray throughout my project; it uses a clear 50/50 rule and is legible either way round.  I think that the gradient effect provides a nice 3D illusion, and really places emphasis on the idea of layering that I created within my own poster design. I might try seeing what my poster looks like inverted, as I think it makes the white text really pop.
