Accordion format

 Accordion format

To further explore methods of using folding to censor images, I felt like an accordion format could work well in creating an interactive user experience, where the audience would have to fold the paper up to form images. I haven't created a physical copy for this concept yet, but wanted to experiment with cutting up images in a way that censors them.

I think this approach to censorship could be pretty interesting, as it would allow me to feature loads of snippets of images and posters, thus creating a curated publication of cultural artefacts. To develop this concept further, I definitely need to test this format out physically, as I plan on printing some of my initial ideas out next week to test if they work. I'm not sure how I would integrate text into this format either, as obviously I want to include text that provides context and is informative on the culture and history of techno in Berlin. In terms of the visuals though, I like how this design kind of has a DIY collage feeling to it, which definitely links to the history of club culture in Berlin as everything was very much inspired by the DIY attitudes of the punk movement. As well as this, I really like the direction I'm going in with the colour scheme; I particularly love the combination of greys with bright colours as it has a somewhat industrial feel to it, yet is also playful.
