Evaluation for pitch design boards
Overall, I think as a team we successfully produced a concise pitch that demonstrated all of our abilities to consider logistical elements of projects/ events. I think that the concept behind CloseUp definitely works in the sense that it celebrates the independent film scene in Leeds, through supporting both filmmakers, venues and generally just bringing people together through cinema.
In regards to my contribution to the pitch, I came up with the initial idea behind CloseUp, suggesting that we create a pitch surrounding the film industry; largely down to the fact that cinema has been massively affected by COVID. Despite suggesting the first concepts, I feel like I could have had more engagement with areas that I lacked interest in; for example, I could have maybe pushed myself out of my comfort zone by helping with logistical considerations.
However, in light of this, we still all managed to work very well together by setting out our set tasks, mine being responsible for the logo and visual identity of CloseUp. I decided to be responsible for this area as prior to deciding roles I already had an idea of what visual direction the pitch could go in; I wanted the logo to have a balance between both a professional and sophisticated tone, as well as symbolising the film industry through abstract shapes. The simplicity and versatility of the design definitely worked in the context of working collaboratively, as it meant that the other team members could place the logo design within their own tasks (such as the poster design).
Although the pitch was mainly successful, it does have its limitations in terms of possibly being more bold and conceptually stronger; I feel like we could have maybe spent more time brainstorming concepts to make the pitch more exciting, as the decisions behind CloseUp were made fairly quickly. That being said, the only risk with this would be a case of time management, so in retrospect we did manage our time very well and all did our part in terms of our roles within the project.
