Creating a techno tourist map
In order to make the user experience slightly clearer and to make the coordinates relevant to the audience, I wanted to create a map of Berlin with each symbol located. This communicates more of a sense of a scavenger hunt, and will identify where each poster will be located. I have already previously researched the locations, and each one is relevant to each rule and its history in Berlin techno.
On google maps, I created a map with all of the locations plotted. The main issue with using google maps however is that it annoyingly has landmarks highlighted which kind of distracts from the ambiguity of the map. Due to this, I wanted to edit the map further and use the grey colour scheme that I have previously applied throughout the project.
I also decided to add the locations of each poster with their corresponding symbols to make it slightly more clearer to the audience. I kept the same colour palette in order to reinforce consistency, as well as offering a visual juxtaposition against the grey colour scheme.
I thought it might be interesting to have the map as possibly the front or back cover of the CD case, as it would be quite a playful narrative where the reader understands the relevance of the map and the plotted points on it once reading the publication.
If I were to have the map as the front/ back CD cover, I thought I could introduce the motif of the 52 13 symbol as a sticker. Also, in terms of stickers, the plotted points on the map could also be stickers? I quite like the idea of having the symbols as sticker either way, as it would provide an extra sense of interactivity and playfulness; for example, the audience could stick the stickers on the posters when they visit Berlin.
Another functionality issue I have realised is that the map is possibly a bit unclear. Although the audience will be provided with the specific coordinates, it might be better if I included some sort of link to a digital map? I created a google map thing so I could generate a QR code for that on the map somewhere; maybe as a sticker?
