Adding content to the layout
In order to navigate the relationship between text and image for the book, I decided to take the content from a copy of Its Freezing in LA! and put into a double page spread format. Like previously mentioned, I think it is super important that the typesetting in my book has a fun and playful tone, as well as having rebellious undertones. Personally, I do find typesetting not the most fun aspect of design, but I definitely want the type to be kind of chaotic and rebel against typical typesetting rules e.g. having the type all the same size.
I made this flat lay mockup to see if the visuals for the initial experiment worked with each other; in a sense, this helps build more of a brand for the book, which is crucial in how the user interacts with the stickers and uses them as visual activism.
