Mockups
Using the logo design, I decided to create some quick mockups to see if it would work in the context of the board games packaging. Personally, I think that the gradient on the logo is slightly too overwhelming, so I think it could work better visually in black and white; this will help it seem separate from the board, as I want to avoid having everything in the same gradient effect. Also, I need to consider what I want to be printed on the sides and the bottom of the box; instructions, slogans, a barcode possibly?
This mockup showcases how the user will place the meme cards on the board to where they think they belong. In terms of sizing, it is important that the meme cards as relatively small so that the user can see which exact point they placed them on.
I decided to tweak the box design further by adding a black and white logo instead; this definitely looks more refined and makes the logo stand out more in the visual hierarchy of the packaging. In regards to the sides of the box, I just made some quick slogans in comic sans within star burst shapes; this worked in terms of consistency with the logo, but I feel like having such large sections of black on the side is a bit overpowering and distracts from the gradient effect.
This is just a quick mockup of the board game (so far) to see if the elements I have created visually match and work together. I think my main points for improvement at this stage is to develop the box design further; I need to improve the sides of the box and design the bottom of the box. As well as this, I need to create some instructions - you can't have a board game without instructions eh.
