Interactive 'meme maker' concept

 Anti art 'meme maker' concept

After creating some visual responses to some of the initial ideas for the practical outcome, I thought it could be helpful to focus more on the user experience and the format in order to explore other avenues to decide on. Due to this, I developed this quick publication design, that focuses on the 'notion of absurdism' in the sense that it contains silly tasks for the user to complete that relate to politics in a witty way.

This interactive task for example, makes the user draw on Boris Johnsons' face; in a sense, this reinvents satire and relates to meme culture as it focuses on a more personal experience and sense of humour, the same way in which memes are created and shared on a personal level. Creating an interactive design is crucial for this project, as the main argument for memes replacing satire referenced in my essay is how memes operate on a personal level and align with Gen Z's self depricating humour.

Another element for this concept that focuses on the concept of absurdism is featuring visuals that don't really correlate; this kind of relates to how memes operate on inside jokes. This idea very much inspired the use of 'meme' references like comic sans and word art; the visual language of the design is very anti-art and embraces the absurdity of meme culture.

In regards to the format of this publication concept, the design would be a long strip of images in a square dimension; this relates the designs' user experience as it replicates scrolling through memes of instagram. The main issue with this concept however, is that it doesn't really have an aim; yes, it relates to topics discussed in my essay, but once the user has filled out the activity, thats pretty much it; I want to create a practical response that is still interactive but can be reused.
