Alyans - Soviet post punk/ new wave
"Alyans or Альянс (“Alliance”) started out as a New Wave band from Moscow, Russia, playing and recording in the underground from 1981 to 1984, before pressure from communist authorities forced them to disband for two years.
Reforming in 1986, they gained popularity for their soft, lyrical, non-aggressive style - but soon creative differences emerged and the band underwent numerous changes.
Towards the end of their career in 1990, Alyans became interested in traditional Slavic music and recruited singer Inna Zhelannaya into the band - and while Alyans soon parted their ways, she went on to achieve quite a bit of recognition in the World Music scene for her progressive renditions of Russian folklore songs."
