Design developments
These designs use a collective approach to image making, with multiple visuals collaged onto the design; I stuck to the halftone/ threshold method to prepare for the context of screen printing, which created a two toned outcome. To communicate the harshness and eerie nature of the genre, I used imagery from the national archives and shots from Tarkovsky films. I like how the methods of cropping abstract the visuals, which intrigue the audience and develop an immersive experience. I decided to play with textures to frame this composition with using the airbrush tool to create scratches and gradients in the background. In mu opinion, this design looks a bit flat due to the composition and framing of the images, which personally don't think is best; I want the whole cover to capture the music, and the nature of post punk doesn't relate to having a lot of negative space.
