Digitals edits
This album cover uses imagery from the photoshoot in the abandoned building, focusing on a super crop of broken glass to convey a sense of aggression/ angst associated with post punk; this reflects the instrumentals of the music, yet also using soft colours like lilac to introduce references to the soft vocals within the genre. I feel like this design above lacked a strong colour palette, as the elements of text and image looked very separate and flat.
These concepts play around more with using gradients; although this might be difficult for the actual screen printing (if that even happens anymore), digitally, I think it works really well at tying in the colours and avoiding a flat design. I like how the blocky text also contrasts with the softness of the gradient; linking to the genre itself. I wanted to play with a variation of colour schemes to see which worked best; I really like the pink and green version as the gradient blends in with the background which further explores the concept of soft, melancholy vocals. I also like how this design contrasts from the previous covers for Buerak; it seems a lot more contemporary and abstract, and captures their music with these abstracted approaches. I think it would be best to develop these further with different typefaces, and alternative compositions - the main thing I've got from this is that gradients and airbrush strokes work nicely with the harsh imagery.
