Further development of initial photography

Development of textures

I decided to develop the initial edits of the concrete architecture I previously made, this time using different colours and adding other textures for experimentation.

I feel like the white texture on this version looks a bit too bright; I'm not sure if it works with the overlayed image as it could be too busy?

I used the same halftone effect as previous designs, in order to keep the visuals appropriate for screenprinting; I also really like the grainy effect it provides, as it links to the moody atmosphere I want to create. I think the added texture does push the designs a lot further, as it provides a better amount of consistency that I want to achieve.

This design is definitely my favourite so far; the image works really well as the lights create an eerie tone/ moody atmosphere and offer little bits of empty space to break up the heavily halftoned image. I also think the red and black works really well, as it has a good amount of contrast - I could look into colour theory to see what colours would be relevant to the context of post punk? This design also has a nice amount of negative space as a border, which cleans up the visuals a bit by having an edge.

I played around with negative space more by adding a thick black border; this looks alright but I feel like this kind of format is overdone in current contemporary graphics. I think I need to possibly add more textures? As well as this, to push my visuals further I think I now need to experiment more with how else I could manipulate the image.
