Interaction with type designers/ inspo

 Interaction with type designers

I received this message on instagram from Chloe Grienenberger, who is a multidisciplinary designer that contributed an 'M' to MoodGlyph. It's so cool to see designers actually making stuff with their letterforms, and it kind of inspired me to work on some experiments for how we could credit designers and specify what emotion the letter submissions are based on. In the design she sent me, she had made a little box stating what letter it was and what emotion it was inspired by; we could maybe use this approach in the publication.

I made this quick card design that could be featured for each letter in the publication; it would be an interesting way of adding an extra component to the publications user experience; it would add an extra layer especially if we made it a sticker or something. We could also use these instead of doing a contents/ credit page, but I will need to discuss this with Spencer.

I played around with different colour schemes, as created this example for the A in the MoodGlyph alphabet. I thought it would be interesting to use colours that align with the letter form itself, in order to relate to the emotion it is inspired by. I quite like the last design I created, as the colour scheme places more emphasis on the colour gradient bar/ component. These would actually work quite well as little business cards within the publication - I might have a little brainstorm with Spencer regarding this.

This design is just a quick experiment I created to see how the card designs could work with the publication/ letterform pages. I actually quite like how this one turned out, but the only limitation is that the card itself isn't very clear as I applied a threshold effect. Despite this, I actually really like the colour scheme used in this, as it was different from past experiments as it used block colours. This sparked the idea that we could create a two tone colour scheme for each page/ letter in relation to their emotion; we could then create a colour block grid consisting of all of the submissions?
